Such statement is witnessed as to the authenticity of the affiant’s signature by a taker of oaths, such as a Notary Public or commissioner of oaths. The name is Medieval Latin for he/she has declared upon oath. An affidavit is a type of verified statement or showing, or in other words, it contains a verification, meaning it is under oath or penalty of perjury, and this serves as evidence to its veracity and is required for court proceedings.

I found the experience rather uncomfortable. Being cornered into providing personal details, only to be met with high-pressure tactics to sign up, felt disrespectful. I place great value on integrity—respecting someone’s time, money, and circumstances should come first. The approach felt opportunistic, as if anyone, regardless of situation, could be persuaded to part with money under false promise.
It struck me as cynical, almost as if the business felt entitled to customers’ resources rather than focused on genuinely assisting them. The irony is that I might have signed up and remained a loyal customer under different circumstances—but the lack of respect simply made that impossible.

When you came to our office you initially attempted to get our service at a significantly lower price than our advertised price. Our website clearly shows our simple document pricing which is what was discussed with you in our office. As a business we could not agree to this I'm afraid. We asked you for information about your requirements and took time to understand this, as we do with all our clients. We then went to great lengths to explain our service to you so that you would know it met your needs, and we gave you our costing for that, which was in line with our website published charges. At the end of this detailed and lengthy discussion, you proceeded to book an appointment for a time when you would have enough funds to go ahead with the notarial service. At this point you left our office, but then immediately proceeded to cancel the appointment you had made. While you may be unhappy with this, we followed our protocols, spent time talking with you and you made the informed decision not to proceed, which is disappointing.
The notary, Gareth, was very helpful in arranging to visit me in hospital to notarise my will at short notice. The extra fee for coming to me was not too onerous either.

Very easy to set up and visit for our appointment. We came out of the wrong exit from the station which was really frustrating when you realise the office is just across the rd from another exit. That aside we were really pleased with the whole experience, top class firm!
